Brazilian Formula One racing legend Rubens Barrichello recently purchased a townhome at the Colette Residences luxury condominium development in South Brickell in a deal valued at $7.95 million.
META Development said Barrichello, who won 11 Grand Prix victories between 1993 and 2011, bought the property as a strategic investment in Miami residential real estate and as a home for his family.
Located at 1880 Brickell Ave., Colette’s five stories will offer 34 residences that META said represent an alternative to the high-density towers rising across Miami’s skyline. There will be more than 15,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities when it opens. Groundbreaking is currently slated for this fall.
Colette was designed by Brazilian architecture firm OSPA and developed according to META’s “Go Boutique” philosophy, which “prioritizes generous living environments, individualized residences, architectural integrity and an intimate sense of community,” according to a release.
“I wanted something my family and I could genuinely enjoy,” Barrichello said. “What drew me to Colette was its more intimate scale, offering the privacy and comfort of a single-family home with the security and services of a boutique building. For me, it brings together two priorities: a thoughtful long-term investment and a place where my family can feel comfortable, protected and truly at home.”
